Officials have cancelled the Festival au Désert in Timbuktu, weeks after an Al-Qaeda attack in Mali left 77 people dead. Mali has been unable to host the music festival since 2012 as it was first driven out by Islamic extremists and subsequently kept away due to security issues. Timbuktu was to host the festival for the first time in years.
