Calcutta High Court rejected CM Mamata Banerjee-led state government's plea seeking capital punishment for RG Kar rape-murder accused Sanjay Roy. The court said that state doesn't have the right to sue for maximum punishment. "Only the investigating agency [CBI] has the right to file this case," the court added. This comes after a Kolkata court sentenced Roy to life imprisonment.
