A Puducherry consumer commission has ordered a restaurant to serve 10 free biryanis (2 plates per week) to a customer after he found a dead fly in his biryani last year. The court has also ordered the eatery to pay ₹10,000 as compensation for mental agony and deficiency in service, in addition to ₹3,000 compensation for legal expenditure he incurred.
