Pune police arrested a man for allegedly trying to desecrate a statue of Mahatma Gandhi at the Pune railway station late Sunday. The police identified the accused as Suraj Shukla, a native of Varanasi. A prima facie probe by police revealed that Shukla allegedly climbed onto the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and attacked it with a sharp weapon he carried.
