Man shot dead by NYPD on Brooklyn Bridge cables

A man was shot and killed by NYPD officers early Friday after climbing Brooklyn Bridge cables and approaching them with a knife. Officers spent nearly an hour attempting de-escalation. The man, who said he wanted to die, raised his knife within three feet of an officer before being shot. He was pronounced dead at hospital.
