Manohar Parrikar gave nod for Uri surgical strikes within hours of terror attack

Late Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar approved a proposed cross-LoC operation after 2016 Uri terror attack killed 19 soldiers in action, Lt Gen Satish Dua (Retd) had earlier recalled. Army commanders discussed targets, routes and risks before Special Forces conducted the surgical strikes on September 28-29. Dua said Parrikar sought assurances on civilian and soldier safety before giving approval.
