Manohar Parrikar was the first ever IIT graduate to become a CM

Goa CM Manohar Parrikar, who passed away at 63, in 2000 became the country's first ever IIT graduate to take over as the Chief Minister of a state. A 1978 graduate in metallurgical engineering from IIT Bombay, Parrikar was a batchmate of Infosys Co-founder Nandan Nilekani. Born in Goa's Mapusa in 1955, Parrikar studied at Loyola High School in Margao.
