PM Narendra Modi on Sunday launched Chhattisgarh government's Mahtari Vandan Yojana, under which married women in the state will get financial assistance of ₹1,000/month. He initiated the transfer of ₹655.57 crore into bank accounts of women in the first phase of the scheme. The scheme, which aims to benefit over 70 lakh women, was declared as BJP's pre-Assembly election promise.
