Under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Bill, 2023 (IPC's replacement), marrying a woman after "concealing one's true identity", is punishable with a maximum of 10 years in jail. This comes under a separate provision for punishing those who 'deceive' women into sexual intercourse with false promises of marrying them. Deceitful means also include "false promise of employment or promotion".
