Marrying cousins is multiplying India's diabetes genes: Dr V Mohan

On the podcast, Dr V Mohan, a diabetology expert, said generations of marrying cousins and uncles, common in South India, have concentrated diabetes genes in families. "If you keep marrying within, the gene gets multiplied," he said. He advised against marrying within the family, at least at the first-cousin level, to avoid diabetes and heart disease.
