Mars will appear brightest from July 27 to July 30 and make its closest approach to the Earth on July 31, NASA said. At a distance of 57.6 million km, it will be the closest since 2003. In 2003, Mars was the closest ever in nearly 60,000 years, at 54.6 million km, which won't be repeated until 2287, added NASA.
