American civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr was posthumously awarded a Grammy in 1971 for the 'Best Spoken Word Recording' for his 'Why I Oppose The Vietnam War' speech. The activist, who played a key role in the civil rights movement, gave the speech in 1967. Martin Luther King Jr's 88th birth anniversary was observed on January 15, 2016.
