Over 1,000 shops were reportedly destroyed after a massive fire broke out at Kidderpore market in West Bengal's Kolkata at around 1 am on Monday. The blaze allegedly spread rapidly and intensified due to the presence of edible oil godowns in the market. "Even after arriving late, fire engines didn't have water to douse the fire," a shopkeeper claimed.
