Massive gravity wave spotted in atmosphere of Venus

Japanese probe Akatsuki has spotted a massive gravity wave in the atmosphere of Venus using cameras onboard the spacecraft. Stretching over 10,000 kilometres from end to end, it is deemed as one of the largest gravity waves ever recorded in the solar system. Scientists believe the stationary wave was produced by surface winds when they slammed into a 4,500-metre-high mountain.
