Maternal eating disorders raise childhood asthma risk

A Thorax study of 131,495 mother-child pairs found that women with eating disorders before pregnancy had a 25% higher risk of having children with preschool wheezing and a 26% higher risk of asthma. The link held across disorder types and timing, prompting calls for routine screening and support for affected pregnant women.
