The maximum age limit for Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) has been set at 65 years, which is three years more than the retirement age for the three service chiefs of the Indian military. Further, the CDS will not be eligible to hold any government post after demitting office. However, the tenure of the CDS is yet to be announced.
