A Hamburger University was founded by McDonald's former senior chairman Fred Turner in the basement of a McDonald's restaurant in Illinois, United States in 1961. Since its inception, more than 80,000 people have graduated from the facility, where focus is placed on service, quality and cleanliness. Currently, over 7,500 students attend the McDonald's-run university each year.
