McDonald's temporarily shuts Russian restaurants, says 'can't ignore suffering in Ukraine'

McDonald's has announced it is temporarily closing all of its 850 restaurants in Russia, saying, "Our values mean we cannot ignore the needless human suffering unfolding in Ukraine." CEO Chris Kempczinski said the company will continue paying its 62,000 employees in Russia, adding, "At this juncture, it's impossible to predict when we might be able to reopen our restaurants."
