Producer Ekta Kapoor was honoured with the International Directorate Award at the 51st International Emmy Awards ceremony in New York. She became the first Indian to receive this award. Speaking at the event, she thanked her mother as she recalled how they started Balaji Telefilms together from her father Jeetendra's garage. "People used to call us 'Lady Producers'," she remarked.
