A team of Indian researchers from IIT Bombay and IISER Kolkata have identified four new species of ancient snails from the Kathiawar Peninsula. By sifting through rock and using electron microscopy, they have revealed a world of turritelline snails that dominated the ocean floor 20 million years ago in a nutrient-rich environment.
