In a bold move to cut pollution, Meghalaya approved a Vehicle Scrappage Policy targeting 13,000 vehicles in phase one. Around 5,000 government vehicles over 15 years old and 8,000 private vehicles over 35 years will be off the roads. The state hopes to reduce emissions, fuel use, and recycle old materials through the policy.
