Meghalaya cabinet has decided to strengthen the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act, 2016, after an Indore businessman was murdered in the state, while on his honeymoon. State Tourism Minister Paul Lyngdoh said the cabinet will revisit the act "to minimise the possibility of criminal elements entering Meghalaya in the guise of tourists". Act has provisions for vetting of tourists.
