Men are more likely to die of broken heart syndrome than women: Study

According to a Journal of the American Heart Association study, 'broken heart syndrome' kills men at more than double the rate of women. Analysing data from 2016-2020, researchers found an 11.2% mortality rate among men versus 5.5% for women. 'Broken heart syndrome', a stress-induced condition also known as takotsubo cardiomyopathy, affects heart function during extreme emotional/physical events.
