In a major corruption crackdown, the Lokayukta police apprehended Ashok Poojary, an Assistant Engineer with MESCOM, red-handed while he was receiving a bribe of ₹20,000 in Udupi's Brahmavar in Karnataka. The bribe was allegedly demanded in exchange for providing an electricity connection to a residence.
