Meta held discussions to acquire artificial intelligence (AI) start-up Perplexity AI before ultimately investing $14.3 billion into Scale AI, Bloomberg reported. However, the two companies were unable to reach an agreement and decided against pursuing the deal. Reportedly, Meta also tried to recruit Perplexity CEO Aravind Srinivas for its new team, dedicated to building more powerful AI systems.
