A US consumer group has filed a lawsuit against Meta, alleging it adopted policies that allowed scam advertisements and profited from them at users' expense. The lawsuit further alleges that Meta downplayed the risks of scams on its platforms and created a "false impression of safety". Meta knowingly made $16 billion off of scam ads in 2024, the group said.
