Meta agreed to pay $1.4 billion (over ₹11,700 crore) to settle a lawsuit filed by Texas that claimed it illegally used biometric data of users. "For more than a decade, Meta ran facial recognition software on virtually every face contained in photographs uploaded to Facebook," Texas AG Ken Paxton said. This was part of Facebook's discontinued feature called 'Tag Suggestions'.
