Meteorite falls in South Africa triggering widespread boom

A meteorite fell in South Africa's Eastern Cape on Sunday, causing a sonic boom heard up to 200 km away in Plettenberg Bay. Residents reported seeing a bright streak in the sky over St Francis Bay. The meteorite that entered the atmosphere at a relatively low trajectory broke apart while burning up. Ground tremors were also reported from the boom.
