The Centre on Tuesday appointed Michael Debabrata Patra as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) for a term of three years. Patra is currently an Executive Director at the central bank and has a seat on the six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC). His appointment comes six months after former Deputy Governor Viral Acharya's pre-mature resignation.
