Microlightning in water droplets may have sparked life on Earth: Study
short by Anmol Sharma / on Tuesday, 18 March, 2025
A Stanford University study suggests that electrical charges in sprays of water can cause chemical reactions that form organic molecules from inorganic materials. The findings provide evidence that microlightning may have helped create building blocks necessary for early life. The study adds new angle to much-disputed Miller-Urey hypothesis, which argues that life started from lightning strike.
