Microsoft unveiled MAI-Image-1, its first in-house text-to-image AI model, marking its strategy to reduce dependence on its OpenAI partnership. The model, which is already ranked ninth on LMArena's competitive text-to-image leaderboard, specialises in generating photorealistic images with natural lighting effects and detailed landscapes. It processes requests faster than larger and slower systems.
