Microsoft invested $150 million on August 6, 1997, when Apple was on the brink of bankruptcy. "Bill, thank you. The world's a better place," Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs told Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates after the investment was finalised. As part of the deal, Apple agreed to drop a lawsuit accusing Microsoft of copying its operating system.
