India's middle class is projected to account for 93% of the country's total consumer spending by 2036, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said. She noted that the middle class currently makes up about 31% of the country's population. Sitharaman also said Tier-II and Tier-III cities are playing an increasingly important role in driving economic growth.
