Padma Shri awardee Mohandas Pai said the upcoming Budget needs to "placate the middle class". "Middle class all over the country is...unhappy as they are paying the majority of taxes [but] they're not getting any tax reduction," he stated. "They need to see reduction...[and] not the silly thing...of having 5-7 slabs and giving breaks for housing," he added.
