Middle East records highest temp of Eastern Hemisphere

Weather stations in Mitribah, Kuwait and Basra, Iraq recently reached 54ºC, which is touted to be the highest temperature ever recorded on the planet's Eastern Hemisphere. However, the World Meteorological Organisation is yet to confirm the same. Notably, the highest temperature ever recorded in the world is 56.7°C, measured on July 10, 1913 at Greenland Ranch, Death Valley in California.
