Astronomers have created the "most detailed" 3D map of the Milky Way galaxy to date, revealing that it is warped and twisted. "Stars 60,000 light-years away from Milky Way's centre are as far as 4,500 [light years] above or below the galactic plane," a Warsaw University astronomer said. The map is based on the distribution of about 2,400 Cepheids stars.
