Mini hearts, lungs, livers made in lab grow own blood vessels

Researchers are creating increasingly sophisticated mini organs, which mimic the heart, liver, lungs and guts, in the lab, and now they can grow their own blood vessels. Last month, two teams independently reported making vascularised organoids using a new approach that develops vessels from the earliest stages. The researchers coaxed the cells to form blood vessels alongside the organ tissue.
