The District Administrative Coordination Committee has sent a proposal to rename UP's Mirzapur as 'Vindhyachal Dham' to the government for approval. Locals welcomed the move, saying that the entire district is known by the name of Mother Goddess. "The entire city is known by the name of Maa Vindhyavasini...We want it to be called Vindhyachal Dham," a local said.
