Astronomers spotted the "missing-link" in black hole evolution, an "intermediate-mass" black hole, that got revealed while tearing apart a star that strayed too close. It weighs 50,000 times the mass of Sun and is smaller than the supermassive black holes. Such black holes are elusive in nature and have to be caught in the act of gobbling up a star.
