American sprinter and ex-100m world champion Fred Kerley, arrested for allegedly punching his ex-girlfriend and athlete Alaysha Johnson in the face, called it a "misunderstanding". He said, "While there was a physical altercation, my arrest wasn't due to any criminal act." Kerley added, "I chose not to speak to law enforcement without my attorney, and [that's why] I was booked."
