On Sunday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin decided to open the Mettur Dam for Kuruvai irrigation, following delays caused by Karnataka water release issues. After recent rains, the dam level rose, allowing an initial release of 12,000 cusecs. The water will aid paddy cultivation in 13 districts.
