Moderate alcohol may reduce peripheral artery disease risk

Recent research in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology suggested a link between alcohol consumption and peripheral artery disease (PAD), where narrowed arteries restrict blood flow to the limbs. Light alcohol consumption (≤2 drinks per week) is associated with a 17% lower risk of PAD compared to non-drinkers. However, higher alcohol consumption levels significantly increase this risk.
