Mohali logs 22,329 dog-bite cases in 9 months in 2026

Mohali recorded 22,329 dog-bite cases from January to September 2026 — averaging 82 daily — a 44.6% jump over the same period in 2025. The surge coincides with the suspension of the district's stray-dog sterilisation programme, which halted after 2,302 sterilisations. No new agency has been selected, and authorities remain uncertain about resumption.
