Actor Mohanlal has formally stepped down and will not be running for the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) elections this year. This has lead to Kunchacko Boban and Vijayaraghavan becoming strong contenders for Mohanlal's former position as President of the association. The elections will take place on August 15, 2025 to fill 17 positions in the film body.
