A new study has analysed the airflow patterns in the lungs of Savannah monitor lizards and found that the creatures have lung structures that are a kind of a hybrid system of bird and mammal lungs. The team used two different supercomputers to simulate airflow patterns and found an airflow loop in the lizards' inhalation-exhalation process.
