Two macaque monkeys have become the first primates to be cloned using the same approach that produced Dolly the sheep, the first mammal cloned from an adult somatic cell. The monkeys were named Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua after their birthplace China (Zhonghua in Mandarin). Scientists used cell and egg from two monkeys while the embryo was placed in another.
