Southwest monsoon 2024 is expected to bring good rainfall to most regions of India - with the notable exception of the northeastern states, according to IMD. North East India saw little rain in the pre-monsoon season as well. The trend of low monsoon rainfall has persisted in the region specifically for over two decades and generally throughout the past century.
