The India Meteorological Department on Thursday said that the southwest monsoon has officially set in over the state of Kerala. This marked the official start of India's rainy season after getting delayed from its usual arrival date of June 1. In May, IMD had predicted an early monsoon onset on May 26, but delayed it later.
