short by Swati Dubey / on Wednesday, 10 December, 2025
The Moon's South Pole is electrically active, Chandrayaan-3 confirmed after detecting a thin layer of plasma capable of conducting electricity on the lunar surface. RAMBHA-LP measured 380-600 electrons per cubic centimetre at Shiv Shakti Point in August-September 2023, and found that plasma shifts with Moon's orbit. Additionally, ISRO said molecular ions also contribute to this charged layer.
