The CJI-designate Justice BR Gavai will encourage more female lawyers to be appointed as high court judges. "High courts have been asked to look for eligible women lawyers for elevation to the bench," he said. They have also been told to find candidates from the Supreme Court belonging to the state where the appointment is to be made, he added.
